Additional Information

We need a change agent. We need someone who speaks both the languages. Let me introduce the role of Automation Catalyst.

An automation Catalyst can be a bridge between the business and IT when it comes to facilitating IT automation. Their role is crucial in ensuring a smooth and successful transition towards automated processes. Here's how a this gap can be bridged:

  • Identifying Automation Opportunities: The automation catalyst      interacts with various business stakeholders to understand their workflows      and identify repetitive, manual tasks that can be automated. This could      involve data entry, report generation, or customer service interactions.
  • Documenting Processes: The automation catalyst documents      the current state of the business process. This includes flowcharts, decision trees, and      data inputs involved. This clear picture becomes the foundation for the IT      team to design the automation solution.
  • Defining Success Criteria: The automation catalyst works      with stakeholders to define the success metrics for the automation      project. This could involve factors like processing speed, error      reduction, or cost savings. These metrics guide the development and      measurement of the automation's effectiveness.
  • Business-IT Liaison: The automation catalyst acts      as a translator between the business and IT teams. They explain automation      concepts to business users in a clear and concise way, and conversely,      communicate business requirements to the IT team in a way that is technically      understandable.
  • Choosing the tech: The catalyst can be the one who helps      choose what to use where. Also explain why something makes better sense at      a particular place.
  • Change Management: Automation catalysts help      manage the change caused by automation. They train employees on the new      processes and address any concerns or anxieties they may have. The communication      towards management also can be managed by the catalyst.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: The automation catalyst      monitors the performance of the automation and identifies areas for      improvement. They may also work with the IT team to fine-tune the      automation as needed.

By acting as a bridge between business and IT, the automation catalyst ensures that IT automation projects are aligned with business goals, implemented effectively, and ultimately deliver the desired value.
